OPTION 1 : CAPE TOWN

Cape Town Day 1:

Once in Cape Town we head towards the interior, where we reach Franschhoek or the “French Corner” of South Africa. The Huguenots established the popular wine region of Franschehoek and Paarl, where we will visit selected wineries and indulge in wine-tasting.

Day 2+3+4: Next the journey brings us to Cape Town, travelling passed Table Mountain, along the stunning cliff coastline, which is framed by the “Twelve Apostles”, to Hout Bay and over Simonstown to the “Cape of Good Hope”. The route is often said to be the most beautiful coastal road in Africa. The “Cape of Good Hope Reserve” is home to numerous Protea species, the national flower of South Africa. Another highlight is the incredible view from Cape Point of “The Cape of Good Hope”, which is aptly noted as the “most beautiful cape in the world”. The journey back takes us through Simonstown, where a famous colony of African or Jackass Penguins can be seen. A city-tour takes us through Adderley Street, which houses many important buildings of South Africa’s most beautiful city. Additionally we also visit the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, which lies in the shadow of Table Mountain and is home to a variety of plants as well as numerous Protea flowers.

A trip to Cape Town wouldn’t be complete without an ascent to the top of Signal Hill, with its impressive panorama views of Cape Town and Table Mountain, or a visit to the V&A Waterfront, where a variety of interesting shops can be visited.

The locals have dubbed the city as “e Goli”, which translates to “the City of Gold”.  Jo’burg is the third largest city in South Africa. Here we visit the township of Soweto with its 4 million residents.

After an inspiring visit to the Mandela Museum, we make our way to Pretoria, the capital city of South Africa. The day includes a visit to the Voortrekker Monument and the Union Buildings, before heading to our guesthouse for the night.

Day 2: We depart Pretoria in the morning making our way through Long-Tom-Pass to the town of Graskop. A definite highlight here is the Blyde River Canyon, the 3rd largest Canyon in the world ,  which boasts spectacular viewing points, such as the Three Rondavels as well as God’s Window, which reveals a panoramic view of the Lowveld lying 700m below.  Furthermore, a visit to the Bourke’s Luck potholes and the waterfalls are a must see!

OPTION 4 : BOTSWANA TOUR - AN AUTHENTIC NATURE EXPERIENCE

Day 1+2:  Fly from Johannesburg to Maun . In Maun we board a Moremi Air flight, with this small airplane the Okavango Delta can viewed in an extraordinary way. We spend the nights in luxury tents at one of the camps. From here, various hiking routes can also be enjoyed. Whether from land or from a traditional dugout boat or ‘Moroko’, we will be able to observe a variety of flora and fauna in the area.

Day 3+4: Today we fly, via a charter flight, from our camp in the delta to the Khawi Airstrip in the Moremi National Park. As you look around you in the ‘classic’ Safari camp where we will be staying, you can almost imagine the days of Ernest Hemmingway and with the game drives, where you get to experience wildlife in up-close glory, it almost feels like the ‘old world’. The Moremi National Park is a protected part of the Okovango Delta. Here you will find a typical delta system with archetypal grass plains, the pans and well-developed Mopani forests alternating only with numerous floodplains.

Day 5+6: Today a ±4 hour drive takes us from Khawi to Savute. This ensures a relatively early start in Savute which lies in the South-West region of Chobe. Depending on the course of the journey we will stop for lunch at a suitable vantage point for a picnic. After setting up camp we will spend the afternoon exploring the landscape in Savute. The marshland of Savute reveals a typical grassland, framed by so called Acacia bush, and striking rocky outcrops. Savute is best known for its impressive wildlife, especially its elephant bulls, lions and hyenas which are often seen roaming on their own. Incredible still is the migration of the zebra and wildebeest herds.

Day 7+8: The next part of our journey takes us from the Savute Region to the northern region of Chobe. The morning brings yet another early start in order for us to reach our new destination. The five-to six-hour drive will take us through local settlements and the National Park. We will stop for a picnic along the way, before arriving at the camp in the afternoon. If time permits, after setting up camp, we will set out on a short scouting trip and hopefully witness an African sunset at the Chobe River. The Chobe area consists of a typical river ecosystem. The river’s banks are sprawled with lush mixed forests containing both Miombo and so called, broadleaved forests, which provide suitable homes to a wide range of birdlife. The north of the Chobe is known for its large elephant and buffalo herds, as well as its puku, kudu, Chobe bushbuck, hippopotamus and a rich variety of birdlife. With luck, we may even see some lions, leopards and wild dogs.

Day 9: The day begins with an energising morning game drive, after which we then head out again to Kasane. We arrive at the lodge at about 10 o’clock. In the afternoon, a private boat tour is arranged and is scheduled for 14h00 to 17h00.

Day 10+11: After breakfast we set out from the lodge to Kazungula. This interesting town lies at the border of Zambia and is known worldwide for the Victoria Falls. Today is devoted solely to the Victoria Falls. At this point, many recreational options are available, such as elephant rides, helicopter flights over the Victoria Falls, simply relaxing, traditional craft markets, hiking, a boat trip on the Zambezi and many more to choose from.
